    Step-by-step explanation:

5 girls and 5 boys in the seventh grade and 1 girl and 7 boys in the eight grade

    Total number of 7th grade = 10

    Prob (boy 7th grade) = 5/10 = 1/2

    Total number of 8th grade = 8

    Prob (boy 8th grade) = 7/8

    Prob (boy 7th and boy 8th) = 1/2*7/8

    = 7/16
