    Area (rectangle) = lenght x width

    lenght=x

    width=y

    xy=112 u²

    Then

    (y/2) (8x) = 4xy

    Therefore:

    xy=112 u² then 4xy=4 (112 u²) = 448 u²

    answer: the new area would be 448 u²
