    Let h be horses

    let s be sheep

    h + s = 28

    6s = h

    plug h into eq'n one

    (6s) + s = 28

    7s = 28

    s = 4

    plug s into eq'n 2

    6 (4) = h

    24 = h

    therefore there are 24 horses and 4 sheep
