Mrs jones bakes pies. She always cuts each pie into 8 slices. There are 13 slices left on the counter. write the number of pies on the counter as a mixed number and as an improper fraction

    Improper fraction is 13 over 8

    for the mixed number you have to take as much eights from the improper fraction as possible

    13 has only 1 eigt in it

    so the mixed number would be 1 and 5 over 8

    to the the fraction part of the number take as much of the denominator as you can

    in this case take 8 because there is only one 8 in 13

    13 minus 8 leaves 5 over 8

    1 and 5 over 8 mixed number

    13 over 8 improper fraction
