A student solve this problem and said it was 4 miles Dave is walking.

to the store 2 6/8 miles from his house. David has already walked 1 1/4 miles. how much farther does David have to walk.

is the student answer reasonable?

    If the store is 2 6/8 miles from his house, he still has 1 1/2 miles to walk.

    The total there and back would be twice the 2 6/8 or 5 1/2 miles.

    That is if I am reading it correctly. The periods are still confusing.
