    Using quadratic formula:

    2 (x^2-2x + 1) + 4=16

    2x^2-4x+6=16

    2x^2-4+6-16=0 (then divide both sides by 2)

    X^2 - 2x - 5 = 0

    Then use quadratic formula

    Answer is;

    x = 1 + square root of 6

    x = 1 - square root of 6
