    x=3

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

    Add '-8x' to each side of the equation.

    24x + - 8x = 48 + 8x + - 8x

    Combine like terms: 24x + - 8x = 16x

    16x = 48 + 8x + - 8x

    Combine like terms: 8x + - 8x = 0

    16x = 48 + 0

    16x = 48

    Divide each side by '16'.

    x = 3

    Simplifying

    x = 3
