The original cost of 1 jacket is $20.5

    Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume the original cost price of each jacket = $x

    So, the discounted price of each jacket = $ (x - 8)

Now, price of 6 discounted jacket = 6 x (The price of 1 discounted jacket)

    = 6 (x - 8) = (6x - 48)

And, price of 4 original jacket = 4 x (The original price of 1 jacket)

    = 4 (x) = 4x

    Now, according to the question:

Cost of 4 original jackets = Cost of 6 discounted jackets + 7

    ⇒ 4x = (6x - 48) + 7

    or, 4x - 6x = - 48 + 7

    or, - 2 x = - 4 1

    or, x = 20. 5

Hence, the original cost of 1 jacket is $20.5
