    29.49 square inches

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the length of the rectangle be x inches

    Therefore, width = (2x - 7) inches

    Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (length + width)

    therefore,

    43.6 = 2 (x + 2x - 7)

    43.6/2 = 2 (3x - 7)

    21.8 = 6x - 14

    21.8 + 14 = 6x

    6x = 35.8

    x = 35.8/6

    x = 5.97 inches

    Length = 5.97 inches

    width = 2*5.97-7 = 11.94 - 7 = 4. 94 inches

    Area of rectangle

    = Length * width

    = 5.97*4.94

    =29.4918

    = 29.49 square inches
