In the 1st generation, there are 6 squirrels in a forest. Every generation after

that, the squirrel population multiplies by 4. In generation 2 there are

squirrels, in generation 3 there are 96 squirrels, and so on.

Which explicit formula can be used to find the number of squirrels in the nth

generation?

    You are looking for a geometric series equation. The first term of the sequence is 6 and the common ratio is 4 hence the equation is 6 (4) ^n-1 where n is the number of generations.
