    Hello there!

    -3| 2x + 6| = - 12

    2x + 6 = - 12/-3

    2x + 6 = 4

    Solve absolute value

    We know that 2x + 6 = 4 or 2x + 6 = - 4

    We have two possibilities to solve this.

    1)

    2x + 6 = 4

    2x = 4 - 6

    2x = - 2

    Divide both sides by - 2

    2x/-2 = - 2/-2

    x = 1

    2) 2x + 6 = - 4

    2x = - 4 - 6

    2x = - 10

    Divide both sides by 2

    2x/2 = - 10/2

    x = - 5

    Answer : X = - 1 or X = - 5
