    Perimeter of the rectangle, P = 22 inches

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let A represent the area, L, the length, W, the width and P, the perimeter of the rectangle

    Area of a rectangle, A = LW ... eq 1

    Perimeter of a rectangle P = 2 (L + W) ... eq 2

    A = 28 sq inches

    L = 4 inches

    Slotting in the values of A and L in eq 1

    28 = 4W

    28 / 4 = 4W / 4

    7 = W

    Therefore, W = 7 inches

    Now, lets slot in the values of W and L in eq 2

    P = 2 (4 + 7)

    P = 2 (11)

    P = 22 inches
