    The Pythagorean Theorem is a theorem where you calculate and solve to find the hypotenuse of the triangle. There are three legs in the triangle and the longest leg is called the hypotenuse. The formula to calculate the hypotenuse is:

    Using Pythagoras' Theorem

    hyp² = side ² + side²

    If we want to find only a side and not the hypotenuse we use this formula which is the opposite of solving for the hypotenuse:

    side² = hyp² - side²
