The answer to this problem is 3 loaves and here's why:

If Rosa and Clarice are making sandwiches for the students and the teacher, that is 24 people in total. Each loaf of bread has 16 slices. However, the two end pieces aren't being used, bringing the total number of used slices per loaf of bread to 14. If we know that a sandwich has 2 slices of bread, then we can figure the problem out by multiplying the 2 by the number of people eating the sandwiches (so 24 * 2 = 48). Then we divide the total number of slices used by the number of slices per loaf of bread (so, 48 / 16 = 3). So, for the sandwiches, Rosa and Clarice will need 3 loaves of bread.
