    x = 9, y = 2

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Given the 2 equations

    x + 10y = 29 → (1)

    x - y = 7 → (2)

    Subtracting (2) from (1) term by term will eliminate the term in x

    (x - x) + (10y - ( - y)) = (29 - 7), that is

    11y = 22 (divide both sides by 11)

    y = 2

    Substitute y = 2 in either of the 2 equations

    Substituting in (2)

    x - 2 = 7 (add 2 to both sides)

    x = 9
