    4x-5y=-12

    -x+5y=18

    find x first by eliminating y

    add both of the equations

    4x+-x-5y+5y=-12+18

    4x-x=-12+18

    3x=-12+18

    3x=6

    divide both sides by 3 to get x by itself

    3x/3=6/3

    x=2

    find y by using the substitution method

    -x+5y=18

    -2+5y=18

    move - 2 to the other side

    -2+2+5y=18+2

    5y=20

    divide both sides by 5 to get y by itself

    5y/5=20/5

    y=4

    Answer:

    (2,4)
