x = ($ 8 per hour) (6 hours)

x = $ 48

then let A be his total earning in working both at the movie theater and restaurant, and t be the time he needs to work at the restaurant

A > = 48 + 12t

144 > = 48 + 12t

144 - 48> = 12t

96 > = 12t

8 > = t

t = < 8 hours
