A perpendicular slope is a negative reciprocal of the initial slope.

So you take the initial slope and flip the numerator and denominator (3/4 becomes 4/3, 4 is really 4/1 so it becomes 1/4)

Then you change the sign, so if it's positive it becomes negative and vice versa.

    3/1 becomes - 1/3
