A car rental company rented out 9 cars in its first month. The number of cars it rented doubled each month.

What was the total number of cars the company rented out for the first 5 months?

    9 cars=1 month.

    18 cars = 2 months

    36 cars = 3 months

    72 = 4 months

    144 = 5 months.

    Add all cars which gives you a sum of 279 cars.
