    let's choose

    5x+3x-7y+2x-16y+3+-5y

    1) give values to our variables:

    x=3

    y=4

    so

    5 (3) + 3 (3) - 7 (4) + 2 (3) - 16 (4) + 3-5 (4)

    15+9-28+6-64+3-20

    1) first take this step-by-step and solve each term from left-right

    15+9=24

    24-28=-4

    -4+6=2

    2-64=-62

    -62+3=-59

    -59-20=-79

    -79 is the answer
