    Hello here is a solution:

    tan (x) = sin (x)

    (cos (x)) / (sin (x)) = sin (x)

    (sin (x)) ² = cos (x) ... (1)

    but : (sin (x)) ² + (cos (x)) ² = 1

    (sin (x)) ² = 1 - (cos (x)) ²

    from (1) : 1 - (cos (x)) ² = cos (x)

equation can be used to solve for the measure of angle ABC is:

    (cos (x)) ² + cos (x) - 1 = 0

if you solve this equation you can let X = cos (x)
