How to tell if (-3,1) is the ordered pair for y=-1/3x and 4y+12=3x

    I believe you would have to plug in for x and y. In this case, x is - 3 and y is 1.

    1=-1/3*-3 (-1/3 times - 3 does equal to positive 1, so yes this is the ordered pair for this equation.)

    4*1+12=3*-3 (4*1+12 equals 16 and 3*-3 equals - 9. So, this ordered pair isn't for this equation.)
