    The correct answer for this question is this one: Mean difference is 12

    The given data is this

    Shade plant heights (in.) : 7, 11, 11, 12, 9, 12, 8, 10

    Sun plant heights (in.) : 21, 24, 19, 19, 22, 23, 24, 24

    So, we need to do subtraction in order to get the mean difference

    The differences are: 14, 13, 8, 7, 13, 11, 16, 14

    Then, we add the difference and divide it by 8

    Sum = 96

    Mean = 96 / 8 = 12
