    Why was 6 afraid of 7?

    Because 7 8 9! Get it? 7 ate 9!

    But why did 7 eat 9?

    "3 squared meals" is referring to 3 squared, which equals 9. 3^2=9.

    7 ate 9 because 9 is equal to "3 squared" meals a day.
