    Substitute 0 for y and then solve for x

    0=x^2-3x-18

    x^2-3x-18

    factor

    (x-6) (x+3)

    so set each factor equal to 0

    x-6=0

    x=6

    x+3=0

    x=-3

    so the zeroes are - 3,6
