    you see, 41 IS smaller than 21, but that does not mean that - 14 is smaller than - 21.

    when you add positive numbers, the numbers get larger and when you subtract them they get smaller.

    but the opposite is true of negative munbers. when you add with negative munbers the number behind the dash gets smaller while with adding with negative numbers it gets bigger.

    basicaly, forget everything i just said and realise that with negative numbers the smaller numbers are actually bigger and vice versa.
