Jeff is lining up children's and adult's bicycles at the bike shop where he works. The number of adult's bicycles is nine less than three times the number of children's bicycles. There are 42 adult bicycles. How many children's bicycles are there?

    42=adult bikes

    So when we put it as a equation it turns to

    42=3x-9 (Add on 9) this will then be

    51=3x (divide by 3, as 51 is a multiple of 3)

    17=x

    X=17

    There are 17 childrens bikes
