    a=32 and b=16

    Step-by-step explanation:

    O=96

    O=2 (a+b)

    a=2*b

    O=2*3*b=6*b

    b=96/6=16

    a=32

    the length of the rectangle = 32 cm

    Step-by-step explanation:

    suppose,

    The length = l

    The width = w

    According to question,

    l=2w ... (1)

    Given that,

    The perimeter of the rectangle 96 cm

    So,

    2 (l+w) = 96

    =>2 (2w+w) = 96 [∵ l=2w ]

    =>4w+2w = 96

    => 6w = 96

    =>w=96/6 [Divide both sides by 6]

    =>w = 16

    ∴The width of the rectangle = 16 cm

    so,

    l = 2. 16 [From equation (1) ]

    ∴ l = 32

    ∴The length of the rectangle = 32 cm
