In a closing down sale a shop offers 65% off the original prices. What fraction is taken off the prices?

    So the shop is offering 65% off, by taking 100% - 65%, we only have to pay for 45%. In fact, 45% = 45/100 = 0.45

    So here's the equation y = 0.45x
