    the height is 8 in and base is 22 inches

    Step-by-step explanation:

    area of a triangle = 1/2 base * height

    let the height of the triangle be x

    then the width or base = 2x+6

    area = 88 in² = 1/2 (x) (2x+6)

    88 = 2/2 (x) (x+3)

    88 = x² + 3x

    or x² + 3x-88=0

    applying mid term break formula

    x² + 11x-8x - 88=0

    x (x+11) - 8 (x+11) = 0

    (x+11) (x-8) = 0 ⇒x = - 11,8 (ignoring the negative value as it cannot have negative value)

    height = x=8 in

    bases = 2*8+6=16+6=22in
