    Because we don't know what the width of the rectangle we make it equal to x. So to find the length you would make it 2x+8 becuase if the length is 8 more then the width you add 8 to x, x+8. And becuase the length it "twice" the with you would make it 2x+8. Now you make everything = to 96

    2x+8 + 2x+8 + x + x = 96 (you put each equation in twice becuase you have 2 width and length on a rectangle)

    6x + 16 = 96

    6x=80

    X=13.3334

    Now you plug in 13 in for x

    2 (13.333) + 8=34.666 (length = 34.667)

    34.666+34.666+13.333+13.333=96

    (Nicer numbers if you round)

    35+35+13+13=96

    L=35

    W=13

    L = length

    W = width

    L = 2 (2W + 8)

    W = 2W

    Perimeter: 96 = 4W + 16 + 2W

    96 = 6W + 16

    80 = 6W

    13.33 = W

    Plug this into the equation:

    2 (13.33) + 8

    26.67 + 8 or 34.67 = L
