    7 (x-2) - (x + 3)

Pretend that there is a - 1 in front of the second bracket

    7 (x-2) - 1 (x+3)

Multiply the first bracket by 7

    (7) (x) = 7x

    (7) (-2) = -14

Multiply the second bracket by - 1

    (-1) (x) = -x

    (-1) (3) = -3

    7x-14-x-3

    7x-x-14 - 3 (combine like terms)

    Answer: 6x-17
