    Each segment is 6 7/8 minutes long.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the equal-length entertainment segments be a variable x. You know there is a commercial that is 1 1/4 minutes long and there are two segments of the program and all of this adds up to 15 minutes. So solving the equation 1 1/4 + 2x = 15 will give you your answer. From there you'll use your algebra skills to solve the equation

    1 1/4 + 2x = 15

    2x = 13 3/4

    x = 6 7/8
