What is common factoring?

    Common factoring is taking a trinomial and breaking it up into two binomials that multiply together to get the trinomial.

    Examples:

    x^2 + 5x + 6 = 0

    (x + 3) (x+2) = 0

    2x^2 - 14x + 20x = 0

    (2x - 4) (x - 5) = 0
