    Short Answer: 1 3/8 x 7 = 9 5/8.

You can get the answer by first converting 1 3/8 into an improper fraction. To get that, you multiple the whole number by the denominator, and then add the numerator, while the improper fraction's denominator stays the same. 1 (Whole Number) x 8 (Denominator) = 8. 8 + 3 (Numerator) equals 11. The Improper Fraction is 11/8. Now you can multiply 11/8 by 7/1, which equals 77/8, the same as 9 5/8.
