mekenzie has two glue sticks that are partly used. one has 1/8 glue left, and onehas 3/10 of glue left. which glue stick has more glue? show work

    Why?

    Compare the numbers when they have the same denominator. This means you have to find the LCM (lowest common multiple) of 8 and 10.

    The LCM of 8 and 10 is 40.

    8*5 = 40 and 10*4 = 40.

    This means to multiply 1 (from 1/8) by 5 and multiply 3 (from 3/10) by 4.

    You get this;

    1/8 = 5/40 and 3/10 = 12/40

    Since they have the same denominator, whichever numerator is larger is the bigger amount. In this case, it's 12/40 or 3/10.

    Therefore, the glue stick with 3/10 glue left has more glue.
