    Answer: (x + 2) (x + 7)

    Steps:

    x^2 + 9x + 14

    Find out the factors of 14

    14: 1, 2, 7, 14

    The factors can both be positive and negative:

    14: - 1, - 2, - 7, - 14

    Find a pair of factors (that makes up 14 when multiplied together), that can be added to make positive 9.

    14 = 2 multiply by 7 2 + 7 = 9

    First put the x's down in two different brackets:

    (x) (x)

    Now put the numbers in:

    (x + 2) (x + 7)
