    Let the length be l, then width = 3l

    Perimeter = 2 (length + width)

    48 = 2 (l + 3l) = 2 (4l) = 8l

    l = 48/8 = 6

    Therefore, length is 6 meters and width is 3 x 6 = 18 meters.
