Why is - x/y equivalent to x/-y? Explain

    -x/y is ≡ to x/-y

    because irregardless of which variable having the negative sign it still gives the same answer. e. g

    let x = 2, y = 4

    -2/4 = - 0.5 and 2/-4 = - 0.5
