each burrito for $7.75. Yesterday David made a total of $519.25 in revenue from all

taco and burrito sales and there were twice as many tacos sold as there were burritos

sold. Write a system of equations that could be used to determine the number of

    The number of tacos sold = 25.96 (approximately 26).

    The number of burritos sold = 51.9 (approximately 60).

    Step-by-step explanation:

    step 1:

    Given,

    Cost of each tacos = $4.50

    Cost of each burrito = $7.75

    Total revenue = $519.25

    step 2:

    Let us assume,

    Number of tacos sold = x

    Number of burrito = y

    There were twice as many tacos sold as there were burritos (2x = y)

    step 3:

    The equation can be formed as,

    4.50x + 7.75y = 519.25

    Subtitute y=2x in the above equation,

    4.50x + 7.75 (2x) = 519.25

    4.50x + 15.5x = 519.25

    20x = 519.25

    x = 519.25 / 20

    x = 25.96

    step 4:

    Substitute x=25.96 in y=2x

    y = 2 (25.96)

    y = 51.9

    ∴ The number of tacos sold = 25.96 (approximately 26)

    The number of burritos sold = 51.9 (approximately 60)
