    First, do 16 x 3 to get 48. Then subtract 16 and youll get 32

    Say x is how old Ben is now. Ben's age 16 years from now is the same as 3 times his current age, so:

    x + 16 = 3x

    2x = 16

    x = 8

    Ben is 8 years old.
