    You have to translate the math word problem to math.

    "number" is any variable, so lets use x

    "6 less" is - 6

    "greater than" is >

    "4" is obviously 4

    x-6>4

    if you need to solve for x as well, you would need to get it by itself. so add 6 to both sides (we are trying to get rid of 6 on the side with the x, so to get - 6 to zero we had 6, and one thing we do on one side you do on the other).

    6 + 4 = 10

    so x=10
