Absolute increase to nearest percent is 47 %

    Solution:

    Given that,

14% of 6th graders in K-6 schools have tried cigarettes

61% of 7th graders in 7-9 middle schools have tried cigarettes

To find: absolute increase to nearest percent

Absolute change measures the exact numerical change between two numbers and equals an ending number minus a beginning number

Absolute increase = Ending quantity - Starting quantity

    Absolute increase = 61 % - 14% = 47 %

Absolute change has the same units as the original quantity
