    2/9x = - 1 + 1/3

    2/9x = - 2/3 which is also - 6/9

    x = - 6/9 (9/2)

    X=-3

    2/9x-1/3=-1

    Move - 1/3 to the other side. Sign changes from - 1/3 to + 1/3.

    2/9x-1/3+1/3=-1+1/3

    2/9x=-1+1/3

    Find the common denominator for - 1 which is 3. Multiply the numerator and denominator by 3. (-1) (3) / 1 (3) = -3/3

    2/9x=-3/3+1/3

    2/9x=-2/3

    Multiply both sides by 9/2.

    2/9 (9/2) x=-2/3 (9/2)

    Cross out 2 and 9, divide by 2 and 9 then becomes x.

    Cross out - 2 and 2, divide by 2 and then becomes - 1.

    Cross out 3 and 9, divide by 3 and then becomes 3.

    -1*3=-3

    Answer: x=-3
