    X-5=X^2+5x-17

    Step 1

    Subtract x^2+5x-17 from both sides.

    Step 2

    Factor left side of the equation

    Step 3

    Set factors equal to 0

    Till you get - x+2=0 or x+6=0

    X=2 or x=-6

    Both solutions work
