The graph of f (x) = 2x + 1 is shown below. Explain how to find the average rate of change between x = 1 and x = 3.

    Average rate of change = (f (3) - f (1)) / (3-1)

    (3,9) and (1,3) were the original coordinates and I just used the y2-y1/x2-x1 formula to find the average rate of change
