The total amount that Mrs. Thomas spent, is $2709.

Divide the price of the bed by 4.

    $1548 : 4 = $387

The price of one armchair costs $387.

Multiply the cost of the armchair by how many armchairs Mrs. Thomas bought.

    $387 x 3 = $1161

Add the price of three armchairs to the price of the bed.

    $1548 + $1161 = $2709
