A New York Fire company is installing safety ladders to an apartment complex. Ladder A is 26 feet long and is placed so the base of the ladder is 6 feet from the building. Ladder B is 18 feet long but the base of the ladder is placed 9 feet from the building. Both building are leaning against the building. Which ladder reaches a higher vertical distance?

    Ladder A because B is shorter in length and is also further away from the building, making Ladder A the highest vertical distance.
