Your bill was $9.75. To solve multiply $11.5 by. 15 which will get you $1.75 (this was the amount of the tip). Then subtract $1.75 from $11.5 to get $9.75

Is the answer here $10, not $9.75? So:

    Bill without tip = $10.00

    Tip ($10 x 15/100) = $1.50

    Total with Tip = $11.50
