To work out how many miles the distance from the airport to the beach, we can use 1km ≈ 0.62 miles

To get from 20km from 1km, we multiply by 20

If we do the same to 0.62

0.62 x 20 = 12.4 miles

Next step is to add this on to the 500 miles they travelled by plane

500 + 12.4 = 512.4 miles
